SAMAII - THE FIRST EVER BRITISH BRED COLOURED STALLION TO PASS HIS 70 DAY PERFORMANCE TEST IN GERMAN

Just thought I would pass on our good news!! Samaii our home bred coloured stallion by Sambertino out of our Hanoverian mare Berolina has passed his 70 day Performance test in Germany, placing 7th overall for Dressage - he is the first British bred coloured stallion ever to achieve this!
On the 70 day test , which is the final requirement for lifetime warmblood breeding approval, all stallions, whether bred for dressage or jumping, are assessed in their paces under saddle as well as being required to free jump, show jump, cross-country jump, as well as complete a timed gallop.

Samaii is now life approved as a breeding stallion with Oldenburg, ZfdP, Westfalen, Rhineland & all South German studbooks, as well as BSPA.
As a yearling Samaii was shown very successfully by Dinah Webb-Bowen, where as well as winning a First Premium with the BEF & placing 3rd overall in their year end awards, he also placed 2nd in the combined 1 & 2 year old Warmblood class at the Royal show & was 2nd at the BD Breeding Championships.
He licensed as a Premium stallion with the ZfdP in 2007 - a first for a British bred stallion - and went on to pass his 30 day test with a score of 8.18 for Dressage amongst a group of stallions which included German Licensing Champions.
He has been very successful with Eckhard Wahlers in Young horse dressage competitions in Germany, (always the only coloured!) winning Champion of the 3 & 4 year olds at his first competition when he was 3 & since then has won and placed up to Elementary with scores up to 80%.
His first 2 foal crops have been highly scored at their foal inspections by Oldenburg & ZfdP, with a large proportion being awarded foal Premiums.
2 foals qualified this year for the ZfdP National Breeding Championships & won Champion & 3rd place.
Samaii will be staying in Germany at our stallion station, Gestüt WM, to continue his competition career & in 2010 he will be competing at Medium level.
